Country hub
Three separate railways in one country: the luxury hotel trains of the north, the rack railways into the mountains, and the AVE corridors that cross the meseta in hours.
Spanish rail travel is best planned by deciding what the train is for. A northern hotel train is a closed-door itinerary of several nights with excursions ashore. A rack railway to Montserrat or Núria is a short climb bought as an ordinary ticket. An AVE is a reserved seat between two cities.
Each journey below carries the operator's own published route, season and booking record; nothing here is inferred.
