Austrian railways separate into two pleasures. A steam or cog railway in Tyrol or the Salzkammergut is a slow climb of an hour or so, run to a seasonal timetable. A main line such as the Semmering or the Arlberg is an ordinary scheduled service over a piece of railway engineering that changed European travel.

Every journey here records its own published route, season and booking detail, and seasonal operations are recorded as seasonal rather than implied to run year round.
