Lennakatten is a preserved 891 mm narrow-gauge railway running roughly 33 kilometres from Uppsala Östra, beside the main station, out through Uppland forest and farmland to Faringe. It is operated by the Upsala–Lenna Jernväg society with steam locomotives and period carriages on a summer timetable, typically from May to September. Outside that season the railway does not carry passengers.

From the record
It is unusual to be able to board a narrow-gauge steam train directly from a Swedish city's main railway station, and the line preserves the gauge and operating practice of Uppland's former light railway network rather than imitating it. The run out to Faringe passes lakes, level crossings worked by hand and small halts where the train stops on request. Check the published running days before planning around it, because departures are concentrated on summer weekends.
Our current editorial assessment, for comparing journeys, a considered judgement, not a measurement.

No verified trade-offs on record. That is an absence of evidence, not a promise that there are none.
Not yet verified: typical price, rail pass validity. We leave these blank rather than guess.

The Ofoten Line climbs from the ice-free harbour at Narvik in Norway over the border at Riksgränsen (the highest station on the route) and runs past Abisko and the Torneträsk lake to Kiruna in Swedish Lapland. It was built at the end of the nineteenth century to carry iron ore to the sea and still does, alongside the SJ and Vy passenger trains that form part of the long Narvik–Luleå–Stockholm service.
