Why this connection
KTX does something unusual: it makes an entire country a day trip. Seoul sits at the north-western corner of South Korea and Busan at the south-eastern one, and the KTX joins them across the mountains and rice valleys of the interior in the time other places take to reach the suburbs. Busan at the far end is a different country in temperament (beaches, fish markets and hills above the harbour) which makes the contrast the reason to go rather than the speed itself.
