Rinadeena, Rack & Rainforest: West Coast Wilderness Railway
Rinadeena, Rack and Rainforest is a three-hour steam-hauled return journey from Queenstown Station on Tasmania's West Coast Wilderness Railway, climbing through Lynchford to Rinadeena on the Abt rack section rebuilt from the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company line of 1897 to 1899. The railway is owned by the Government of Tasmania and the journey is sold with live availability.

Why this railway matters
The three-kilometre rack section above Lynchford is the reason to come: a locomotive gripping a toothed centre rail on gradients no adhesion railway could hold, cut through dense West Coast rainforest. Stops at Lynchford for gold panning and at Rinadeena for the lookout give the trip the feel of a mining line rather than a sightseeing ride. It is the most substantial of the railway's current steam departures from the Queenstown end.
